Lost & Found in Quebec Province

Oh, you digital love,
always with me--
even when my eyes
are on someone or something else!

Then, somewhere in the bowels
of the Clarion Hotel in downtown Montreal,
you as much as walked away--
suddenly left me for someone else!

After all we've been through. OK...
Wrenching, gut-level pain,
so of course, I alerted everyone,
including the Eyre tour guide,
a French subcontract guide,
the hotel desk, people on the trip--
and a few on the street--
who may have been momentarily concerned,
or probably not, thinking dumb woman...
or just glad it wasn't theirs!

In my grief, I even bought a disposable
new partner, a Fuji green-and-white
rectangular throw-away box, then shot crazily
while overlooking a hazy grim-view promontory
and NO! I didn't consider throwing myself off!

Anyway, the long and short of it:
The day was protracted beyond words,
so when I finally got back to#314 at the hotel,
I gave the room a cursory visual scan,
looked under the beds, then muttered
"Merde" or something similarly unladylike
in English for no one to hear.

Then, in my normal frenzied state,
I dumped everything in the big black carry-bag
onto the extra bed, and there it was...
with me all the time...
like love you carry in your heart
that is never lost
so never has to be found.
