Elastic bands elongate, then snap back;
This is what you get when you're with me.
I push and pull and stretch your give and lack,
Or feign to chop you down like some small tree.
I think of brainless body once again,
How over time we care less how we look
And make exception with our hair or skin,
Opting to lie down with some good book!
If I had strength I'd go it all alone,
But now my heart is open like a door;
I said last time that love was said and done,
Now look! My arms--from lifting--strong, but sore!
Hold me now before I change my mind.
For time is flat-out running and unkind.
