Located at 3715 Old Columbia Pike, in Historic Ellicott City, this is a charming cafe featuring a breakfast menu, kids' menu, soup of the day, quiche of the day, salads, cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, and baked pita pizzas. Take out orders/info, call 410-465-9700.
I walk down from my place on Church Road to buy my coffee (Zeke's Mexican blend) or order a lunch salad called Fall Fandango. It contains organic baby spinach, blue cheese, carmelized walnuts & maple roasted apples with house vinaigrette.
Once in the door, you can view all the sumptuous,
healthy goodies in the display cases. Photo by

As vegetarians, foodies and new parents (Jonathan was 2 years old), we had longed for a scratch bakery/vegetarian cafĂ© where we could get amazingly delicious upscale food and drinks, but feel relaxed and comfortable with both our friends and our children. With this goal in mind, we created our business—piece by piece! Now, here we are 7 years later in a beautiful new place, with three beautiful children. Jonah is 9; Gabriel is 5; and Evangeline is 18 months. It is a continuing adventure!
Friendly staff are always happy to take your order at the counter!
Sarah and Desmond’s Mission:
“We promise to provide the freshest, most flavorful food possible, while keeping in mind our ethical ovo-lacto vegetarian ideals."
So— continues this testimony on the front of their menu:
- We use only rBGH free milk, farm fresh eggs, and microbial rennet cheeses.
- We use organic produce and products whenever possible and are almost to our goal of minimum 30% organic ingredients.
- We buy our coffee from a local roaster, Zeke’s Coffee, and we buy fair trade organic coffee.
-We use organic sugar in all of our vegan products, and about 75% of our vegetarian products.
- Every effort is made in our food preparation to prevent cross contamination of animal products to our vegan or dietary restricted foods; your dietary needs are always a priority for us.
- We buy our teas from SpecialTeas ®, in, Stafford, Connecticut, a provider of super high quality organic and non-organic teas.
